Rice Paper: Pin-Up

Pin-Up celebrates the golden age of American calendar girls. Cut-out sheets gather playful poses in the Vargas manner — long legs, vintage telephones, elf-green Christmas helpers — while the large plates stage the classic 1950s scenes everyone remembers: the girl walking her poodle, the sprinkler surprise, the barbecue mishap, the seamstress in her Brooklyn corset, cowgirls on saddles and “Wanted” posters, beauties posing before French perfume ads or sipping Coca-Cola with a parrot.

The Christmas series dresses the girls in red for Santa, with golden “Merry Christmas” lettering and armfuls of gifts, and a cheeky witch flies in for Halloween.

A few artistic nudes in soft Vargas style complete the collection — for grown-up projects with a wink. Apply the rice paper to wood, glass, cardboard or fabric and give any object that irresistible rétro charm.
